Me As A Consumer Of Media

I consume media every day of my life, and in some way it has an effect on me. Whether it be social media sites, print or television, I consume all of them every day. The main mediums of the media are television, film, music, radio, print and the internet. One example is youtube, which I use to watch videos, such as interviews with my favourite celebrities:

Print has a major effect on me and the public, through mediums such as magazine and newspapers. There are many types of magazine that can be published including film, fashion and television. Fashion magazines have an effect on the readers as it can influence their style choices and the clothes they buy. Film posters that are used for advertising also affect me, as the picture and the tagline on the poster can make me decide whether or not I want to see the film.

I recently purchased the US September edition of Vogue which had my favourite actress on the cover which encouraged me to buy it. This is a method used by many magazine companies; they recognise the celebrity who is popular or current among the industry or public and choose them to put on the cover. This increases the celebrity's profile and therefore makes them more prominent in the industry. Then once you've brought it you read it and it influences you to copy things from the magazines, for example the styles you see on your favourite actress.

News stories and articles that would most commonly be found in newspapers and magazines can now be accessed via the internet. Click here to see an example of an online newspaper.
